Our Methodology
Little Explorer methodology is based on latest brain research and pedagogy. It has been designed keeping in mind scientific brain based principles on how the brain learns best.
The first and most important scientific principle is based on ‘fun’ or high engagement and novelty. Scientists know that the first five years of life are very important for building a child’s brain.
We focus on the following:
- Developmentally appropriate learning
- Brain based learning
- Bloom's taxonomy
- Integrated – interdisciplinary & theme based curriculum
- Multiple intelligences
- Learning styles – tapping into our senses

Academic Curriculum
Crayon Street Preschool’s “Eclectic” curriculum is research based and inspired by the best practices in Early Childhood Education from around the globe. We have also integrated the philosophies of the world’s renowned educationists including Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Dewey, Waldorf and Howard Gardner.
The curriculum is age appropriate and goes at the pace of the child. The curriculum is designed so as to encourage curiosity, exploration and discover new things in a safe, friendly, warm, lively and stimulating environment. The curriculum is mapped with the National Curriculum Framework as laid by NCERT.
What does our Eclectic Curriculum offer
Phonetic way of teaching is used when it comes to learning of letters. We introduce the beginning as well as the ending sounds of letters and vowels and consonants are taught in groups. Kids at Crayon Street Preschool are equipped to read at a very early stage owing to the progressive method of learning letters and their sounds.
In mathematics, we go beyond rote counting of numbers by promotimg number recognition and one to one correspondence of number to their quantity. Pre-writing skills are introduced between the age group of 2 and 3 yrs so that kids are able to pick up writing easily. The curriculum helps the kids to have a smooth transition from home to Preschool and later from Preschool to formal school.
Our Child assessment model
Our evaluation metrics and comprehensive assessment tool is designed to provide parents with the child’s detailed progress. In addition to this, there is one-on-one feedback session for parents on a monthly basis.
We use on-going assessment tools in the form of Anecdotal records (Child Observation records) and portfolio methods to share minute details about the child’s interests, interaction, participation, communication, creativity and cognitive, motor, language and numeracy skills. Anecdotal records are maintained for each child by the educator. It helps gauge developmental milestones achieved at regular intervals which are documented and shared with parents monthly. Anecdotal record allows the educator to understand details like child’s behaviour, conversation between peers etc. This helps in customising and strategising activities to achieve individual learning outcomes.
The child is monitored closely and worked upon for any developmental delays. The assessment system is directly aligned with curriculum goals.
Nutrition Curriculum
Our Nutrition Curriculum is curated by experts and aims at developing healthy eating habits amongst kids. We intend to foster a positive attitude towards healthy food and create a healthy social eating environment to help children cultivate healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime.
The curriculum is in line with principles of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and MyPlate (Learn more http://teamnutrition.usda.gov.)
In addition to providing nutritious food to kids, kids are engaged in fun and inquiry based sessions. The sessions are integrated with Maths, Science, English Language, Arts and Health. The curriculum also encompasses aspects of personal hygiene like dental care, washing hands, bathing, toilet routine, cutting nails etc. Kids participate in age-appropriate experiential activities like role plays, No-fire cooking, positive tasting experiences, etc. Some of the topics include:
